Art Abandonment

I recently joined an online group called Art Abandonment on Facebook, and these folks sure do spread joy all over the world with their creativity!

I have abandoned a few items along the way in my travels, to Honolulu, Los Angeles, Chicago and a few other locations.

Here is an ATC that I abandoned yesterday at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (aka Woodstock).

Good times with good friends and good music!

Watercolor Zentangle ATC Swap...

Well, I have delved into the world of watercolor paint.  I stink at watercolor painting.  But, oh how I love the fluidity of it when the full brush of water kisses the color and melds into a beautiful mess...

Well, at least mine are a mess.  But the colors, well they speak for themselves.  And since I really can't paint well, I've decided to use my first watercolor attempts as backdrops for bookmarks, and the ZENTANGLE ATC SWAP going on at Little Bird Creations.

watercolor play

let the zentangling begin...the 10th card is vacant from this shot!
so from watercolor piece that I didn't like, cut to 10 ATC cards...
to these for an online swap...

and last but not least for the swap...

And these are the bookmarks I made from "poppies gone wrong"...

Yes, Creative Chaos is my middle name!!!  Thanks for stopping by!  Aloha

Fabric Surprise

Fabric Surpise Package
Well, what a wonderful surprise to receive my package from Linie Cat @ Large for the

Pretty pretty fabrics
What a wonderful selection of silk fabric pieces to use in some of my
upcoming projects.  The pretty fabric on the left is no doubt going to become part of my
ART JOURNAL "HOP"...
the very cool geometrical shapes will be part of the ATC's that will
be on their way to Jo Murray in Australia...I think I will share the purple print one
with Nina for her PURPLE PARTY.
Possibilities are endless...wish I had more "creative" time.
However, 3rd kid going off to college, so can't quit the day job...just yet!

Thank you to VICKI at 2 Bags Full for hosting the GYBP.  It is still going strong, so click the link above if you want to check out all the participants!!!

Artist Trading Cards

One of my faves...one of the first one's I ever made!
Artist Trading Cards, ATC's, are miniature works of art.
2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches...the size of a standard baseball card.
A great way to collect and trade art from all over the world.
They are easy to display or store, and the possibilities are endless!
Here are some of my faves!
Mother Knows BEST!
A fabulous work of art, here.
From Andrea...on the left she stitched my name VICKI.
FLY ME TO THE MOON!
Some are hung, and others tuck into a vintage tin.
If you haven't ventured into the ATC world, beware...the possiblities are endless, and it is truly addictive.  Fun to make, fun to trade!
GO FOR IT!

Altered Book Display

At the urging of local artist, Bob Scully and his wife Cathy, I have joined The Outsider's Studio Altered Books/Books That Alter Book Show. This exhibit begins August 13 through September 15 at Hamish and Henry Booksellers in Livingston Manor, NY.

I'm nervous and excited and I hope you can all get out there to take a look.

Thanks! Enjoy the heat...it is August afterall!

3-D ATC's

Here are a couple new ATC's made for the 1st Annual Pine Bush Art Tour. The Singing Bluebird truly does bring happiness perched on a fresh twig from the yard, and the Beaded Doorway reminds us that "Home is Where the Heart Is".

Short and sweet...I will hopefully be able to post my latest "Fiber Beaded Jewelry" collection soon. But with end of school year events, and concerts, and recitals, and moving up days...etc. upon us, it may not be as soon as I'd like.

Stay tuned!
