SNOW DAY...YAY!

With all the snow and rain and ice...
well, the perfect day to get back into the studio to CREATE!!!

Many personal journals that I started before the holidays came barging through, are now back in the production line of my
"creative chaos"!!!

And this little gem of a book was stowed away on a tall shelf,
that decided to just come down...shelf, books and all!

Now, I have never read this little set of books (Vols. 1 - 4 only) that were sitting so nicely up on that shelf, which is probably why they were dumped on me at this particular time...
after many years up there.

You see, I collect old books, just for the hell of it, I guess,
but mostly because they look great up on my shelves...

And as soon as I opened up Volume 1, I read in the lovely old script writing of the former owner, how deeply she felt about the knowledge and intellect of this writer, Dr. Frank Crane.

However, it was the introduction to the book that captivated me so much that I proceeded to read through Volume 1.

Now this is exactly the type of "to the point" writing that speaks volumes to me...and it is exactly the style of writing that I like to delve into myself with good old pencil and paper.

And it is this "to the point" set of works that I have been working on for years, and have just now decided after reading Volume 1 of Dr. Crane's Four Minute Essays, that this will be the "living legacy" that I plan to leave behind...books that I have written, in my own sometimes scraggly, sometimes elegant handwriting.

No, not published works, but a true testament to what makes me "tick"... with a little bit of what ticks me off, too!

This little set of books FOUND me at just the right time!

Onward...2019!

Feeding the birds...in memory of Ursula!

  1. Good afternoon, I enjoyed your post very much. I love the look and feel of old books-this set sounds like a good read. years ago when I was in my 20s I started to write about myself and my thoughts-I must have tossed all of those-but I think it is an awesome way to leave something behind of ourselves.
    those bird treats look wonderful.
did you design your own background here or can you tell me where you downloaded it-I love backgrounds like this and don't know how to this
    Happy weekend hugs Kathy

  2. I love old books too. I journal and jot down my thoughts and prayers and these volumes of "diaries" will someday be in the hands of my children, grandchildren and greats of which I am blessed with a dozen. They might discover a grandma they didn't really know. What a good thing in our own writing to leave! I didn't have you in my favorites...but adding you today.

    1. Oh Wanda, I believe our own personal writings will be the "living legacy" that we can leave behind, not only for our loved ones, but think of how a complete stranger can be affected by our words...sometimes our innermost personal observations of everyday life! The good, the not so good, and the downright crazy...and we are all still one!

  3. You have lots of lovely little journals there. They sure don't make books like they used to (or anything for that matter). Every year I have the intention of writing in a journal and every year I start off on the right foot and then within a short period of time tend to lose my way. :/

    1. I always kept a journal as a child...even a dream journal next to my bed. I write as often as possible, although I have yet to write in any of the journals I have created. Bits of paper here and there, a notebook page... But, that is about to change. I'm gonna make a special one just for me this time... Writing can be very soulful, especially when words just flow and you go back and read and wonder..."wow, where did all that come from?"

  4. Oh, I love old books as well. There is something special about an old book resting on a bookshelf or laying on the coffee table.

It was truly a delight to visit you. And thanks for commenting on my blog the other day. Your comment was a joy to read. I look forward to visiting again. Hugs!

    1. Well, I have so many old books...friends... I am still not a fan of ebooks, and I am always on the lookout for more. And the ones headed for recycling at local libraries, sometimes are transformed and given a brand new life...full of PASSION, Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Oooh I love your plan - a perfect project to implement! And how fun you were inspired by a set of long-held books that suddenly opted to make themselves a little bit more visible to you. Gotta love those little cosmic nudges don't you?

    1. Oh yes...I know how much of a booklover you are, too. And this was definitely a "cosmic nudge". And I have made my own personal journal to "yak" abit. My first chapter is called...JUDGEMENT! Though I have to be honest with you, sometimes when I am driving I wish I was taping my "words of wisdom", because when it comes, it just flows, and I can't really pull over to jot it all down...hee hee!
